Mark G, the Crows' Utility Man, departs the band...

Updated: Jul 25, 2021

Mark Griffiths has left The Old Country Crows due to work commitments. A co-founder of the band from 2010 Mark contributed lead vocals, backing vocals, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, mandolin, ukulele, guitar/banjo and harmonica on the band's live performances and in the recording studio. If there had been a set of spoons laying around at some stage then they would have been added to the list.

The roots of the Crows go way back to 1988 and the events of that time are well documented in the 'The Band' bio page of this website.

It feels like a long time ago that the Crows recorded their first album with the late, great guitar legend Bernie Torme at Barnroom Studios near Faversham, Kent and the pressure of nailing a guitar solo in front of a musician of Bernie's stature lead to many cold-sweat breakouts. However, Bernie was great and did not intimidate whatsoever. There have been many great shows and to be part of a band performing their own compositions takes a lot of courage in some of the more demanding venues. Mark was a big part of this challenge and always faced the demands with effort and determination.

It's all there in the recordings and the videos. Check them out. We wish Mark all the best in his future ventures.

The Crows will look to regroup and restructure.

Currently there are no shows scheduled for the band but as soon as all bases are occupied then we will rock and roll once again.
