One of the last truly great rock stars, Tom Petty, has passed away suddenly at the age of 66. Having just completed a successful 40th Anniversary Tour across America with the Heartbreakers the news has come as a great shock to his millions of fans around the world. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers hit the ground running in 1976 with their self-titled debut album and went on to release another 12 albums with the final release Hypnotic Eye in 2014. He recorded 3 solo albums, namely Full Moon Fever (1989), Wildflowers (1994) and Highway Companion (2006). And further success came with the magnificent supergroup the Traveling Wilburys with Vol. 1 (1988) and Vol. 3 (1990). I was fortunate to see Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers perform at the Royal Albert Hall, London on 20th June 2012 and what a show it was. A once in a lifetime opportunity to see a great performer with a link to the classic past of rock'n'roll. Gary.

Into the great wide open
Under them skies of blue
Out in the great wide open
A rebel without a clue
Tom Petty
Thank-you for the great songs - The Old Country Crows
