A career of relentless goalscoring by the Brazilian legend began aged 15. By the age of 17, in 1958, Pele was a World Cup winner. He would inspire Brazil to two more triumphs, in 1962 and 1970 - the only player to have won 3 World Cups.
Watching Brazil in 1970, arguably the greatest team of all time, win the World Cup on colour tv is an everlasting memory.
By the end of it all, he had amassed 1,279 goals in 1,363 games.
Pele played all of his club career in Brazil with Santos before ending his playing days with New York Cosmos.
For people of a certain age Pele will always be the greatest player of all time.
Edson Arantes do Nascimento, Pele, rest in peace and thanks for all of the magic.
