John Lennon would have reached his 80th birthday today 9th October 2020. He was gunned down in New York City on 8th December 1980 at the age of 40.
A major influence for many musicians of all types of genres one can only imagine what he would have achieved in the second part of his life if he had lived on.
He would certainly have faced a major challenge in reaching the heights he achieved with his songwriting in the 1960's and 1970's if he had continued his recording career into the 1980's.
It is certainly hard to imagine him being around at the age of 80 sitting around watching TV with his pipe and slippers but the great thing about great music is that it lives on long after the creator has passed on.
