QUEEN OF COUNTRY MUSIC PASSES AWAY AT THE AGE OF 80

It is with great sadness that the death of Dolly Parton was announced to the world on 25th August 2026.

A true country music icon, as described by The Grand Ole Opry but also just a thoroughly decent person.

Dolly purportedly wrote more than 3000 songs in her long career. And what a brilliant songwriter she was with many of her songs coming from the heart recalling her tough early years of growing up in a one-room cabin along with her parents and 11 siblings in the hills of Tennessee.

Away from the famous songs Dolly composed there are many more out there waiting to be discovered and they are all brilliant in their own kind of way.

Her Sunday afternoon performance in the 'Legends Slot' at Glastonbury in the summer of 2014 was a masterclass in entertaining an audience proving the power of her songs and is widely remembered as one of the festival's greatest and most-watched sets.

Dolly will be greatly missed around the world.
