With worldwide events causing total disruption added to personnel changes within the band the Crows returned to the stage at Rochester Sweeps Festival on Monday 2nd May for the first time since September 2019. It was also the first time the band have performed with new members Chris Pike and Tim Geer.
The first performance commenced at midday on the Castle Main Stage. A good-sized crowed was in attendance for the relatively early start. Following a stirring introduction by Vicky the band kick-started their comeback show with a strong version of My Head Is Alright followed by Listen To Me. Along with Listen To Me, there was also Florida Sun, (I'll Get Along Just Fine) Without You and Not So Long Ago being played live for the very first time. The performance climaxed with old favourites Out In The Sun and Dreamland followed by a cover version of J.J.Cale's Call Me The Breeze which was much appreciated by the crowd.
Message from Doug Welch of BBC Radio Kent Folk who watched the performance: -
"So good to see the crows back in action. Looking like this year will be a successful year, do hope so after the last couple.
I thought the Castle Gardens set was excellent and the new line worked very well.
Looking forward to seeing you again before long. Keep up the good work it is great !"
Cheers
Doug
At the culmination of the Castle Stage show it was time to head on down to the City Wall Wine Bar Stage. The performance commenced 3.45pm on a much smaller and cosier stage and again a good-sized crowd showed great appreciation as the Crows this time added old favourites When I' Down and A Little History into the set. Many thanks to Zahira and Dave for their assistance in setting us up on this stage.
Chris and Tim both excelled on the day and the many hours of practice put into the songs certainly paid off.
The event was the 40th edition of Rochester Sweeps celebrating an anniversary two years later due to the events of the past couple of years.
Very many thanks to organiser Doug Hudson for allowing us to be part of this great event.
We look forward to seeing y'all on the road again very soon.
